Our registered specialist orthodontists
offer all cosmetic orthodontic options for children, teenagers and adults.Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry dedicated to correcting the position and spacing of teeth, improving dental occlusion (bite), and enhancing the overall appearance and function of the jaws and face. In terms of dentistry, orthodontics prevents uneven wear on teeth and alleviates jaw pain. Aesthetically speaking, it improves your smile.
In most cases, orthodontic treatment involves the attachment of some kind of orthodontic braces to the upper or lower (or both) tooth arches.
Orthodontics is no longer just for teenagers, with treatment commonly starting as soon as (or sometimes shortly before) the last baby tooth has been shed – usually around ages of 10 to 12. The Australian Society of Orthodontics recommends a first examination at around the age of seven, so that any problems can be detected and evaluated early. Orthodontists can set out an appropriate treatment plan that may make braces unnecessary or relatively short-term treatment. Most orthodontics achieve good results in adults as well.
When adult malocclusions cannot be corrected with braces alone (because the bones have stopped growing), orthodontic treatment may be combined with jaw surgery. If you think you may have an orthodontic problem, the sooner you see a registered specialist, the better.
You may be a candidate for orthodontic treatment if you suffer from any of the following:
overbite, under-bite, cross-bite, open bite, spacing or gaps, crowdingOur treatments
If you need to see an orthodontist, Smile Solutions can offer you a full range of options, from space maintainers and conventional orthodontic braces to clear external braces, internal lingual braces, and Invisalign® No Braces.
Space maintainers
When a primary tooth is prematurely lost (usually in a child or a teenager), adjacent teeth may drift into the space and impede the alignment of permanent teeth when they erupt. Our specialists will advise you if a space maintainer will help. These devices can be fixed or removable.
Clear external braces
Our clear braces eliminate the need for elastic or metal module “ties” to hold the orthodontic wire in place. This makes them discreet, comfortable and easy to keep clean.
Invisalign®
Invisalign is a series of transparent acrylic trays are custom-made to move your teeth. Every two to three weeks after the initial fitting, each aligner is replaced with a new one – the process graduallys move your teeth into the desired position.
Internal lingual braces
Internal lingual braces mean you can experience all the benefits of traditional, wire-based orthodontic braces without the metal smile. As they’re attached to the lingual side (tongue-side) of your teeth, you can smile confidently without fear of others noticing your braces.
